In an underpopulated county in an underpopulated state a small group of hard-working folk have embraced the sport of kings. Self regulated, self funded, self officiated, the players and their families arrive at Buzz’s El Caso Ranch for weekend round-robin competitions. Many hundred of miles from any population center, and indeed many thousands of miles from any royal blood, the players compete with a ferocity that belies the amiableness of the family gathering. Ranchers, accountants, doctors, and mechanics mingle together limited not by social class or standing but by their grit and determination and that of their mounts.
Bumps and bruises to both body and pride mark the successful weekend away from the toil of responsibility as well as the beginning of new imaginings.
